Me and Orson Welles (2008)
An interesting insight into a small but crucial part in Orson’s life told from the point of view from an insignificant cast member. Orson is putting on a production of Caesar, which is now legendary and this is told through the eyes of Richard, a young high schooler hired for nothing to play Lucius. He falls in love, argues with Orson and learns that Orson is the boss and you don’t disagree with him. Orson is an amazing character and played brilliantly by Christian McKay reprising his role as Orson from the one man show ‘Rosebud: The lives of Orson Welles’. Zac Effron makes a very good jump into more adult movies as apposed to the high school musical films and Claire Danes plays the love interest very well. Everyone is perfect and this film is great. I saw it one day before I saw ‘Avatar’ and I much preferred this.

True Grit (1969)
Since watching trailers for the Coens brothers latest movie it inspired me to check out the original. It gave the Duke his only acting Oscar so I expected something different from John Wayne as apposed to his usual bad ass cowboy self, maybe something different a little softer and kinder showing a different side to him and I was wrong. The Duke played pretty much the character he always plays, a bad ass cowboy who likes to kill people. Don’t get me wrong this is a great character and I love it every time it’s just strange this is the one he got the Oscar for. Anyway John Wayne saves this film from an incredibly annoying girl who just wouldn’t shut up. I did enjoy this film and it’s always fun watching the Duke act like a bastard.

127 Hours
Usually with Danny Boyle films people hype them up so much it makes it impossible to enjoy because I am constantly being told how amazing it is, well the same thing happened with this film. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it I just didn’t think it was amazing. I appreciate what Aron Ralston’s story is a traumatic one and he went through hell but it’s not particularly an entertaining story to be played out on the big screen. For what it was it was well directed and well made but I was more interested in the after affects of cutting his own arm off but you don’t see much of that. The story is about the arm coming off, everything else just leads to it. Overall its a good film, not the best but good.
